      DescriptionDescription

      🔍 Description:
The Australian Sea Apple is one of the most visually stunning invertebrates in the reef hobby, featuring a vivid purple body with yellow and red accents and large, feathery feeding tentacles. A true showpiece, this soft-bodied echinoderm uses its feathery arms to filter plankton from the current — making it a passive filter feeder that requires pristine, nutrient-rich water and consistent feeding.

But beware: When stressed or injured, Sea Apples can release toxins (holothurin) that may kill fish and inverts. They are not for beginners and should only be kept by experienced aquarists with a solid understanding of their needs.

      Must HaveMust Have

✅ Why They're Fascinating (for advanced setups):

Incredible Colors: Among the most visually striking inverts available — guaranteed to grab attention.
Unusual Behavior: Their feeding method and movement are mesmerizing to watch.
Natural Filter Feeder: Helps remove suspended particles in high-nutrient tanks (if properly fed).
Peaceful: Won’t harm other tank inhabitants — but needs to be protected from them.

      Notes for SuccessNotes for Success

      ⚠️ Notes for Success:

Requires Strong, Laminar Flow: Needs constant water movement to bring suspended food.

Daily Target Feeding: Needs supplemental live or frozen phytoplankton, rotifers, and fine zooplankton.

Toxic When Threatened: Can release deadly toxins if stressed, sucked into pumps, or harassed — always protect with foam guards and avoid aggressive tank mates.

Do Not Touch or Move Roughly: Very sensitive to handling and environmental changes.

For Display Only: Does not contribute to detritus control or algae management — keep for beauty, not utility.
