      🔍 Description:
The Emerald Crab is a widely used reef tank cleaner known for its metallic green carapace, compact size, and appetite for bubble algae (Valonia sp.). With their strong, cupped claws, they’re able to scrape rock surfaces and pull algae from crevices that many other clean-up crew members can’t reach.

While generally peaceful, Emerald Crabs can become opportunistic in cramped or underfed tanks — possibly picking at coral polyps or small inverts. Still, in well-fed and well-sized aquariums, they’re an excellent algae-fighting addition.

      Must HaveMust Have

      ✅ Why They're a Must-Have (with monitoring):

Bubble Algae Destroyer: One of the only inverts known to actively eat Valonia.
Hardy & Adaptable: Tolerates a wide range of reef conditions and temperatures.
Rock-Scraping Specialist: Gets into nooks and crannies others can’t.
Entertaining Behavior: Always busy and surprisingly strong for their size.

      Notes for SuccessNotes for Success

      ⚠️ Notes for Success:

Supplement With Meaty Foods: If algae is scarce, offer pellets or frozen food to prevent coral picking.

Use in Moderation: 1 per 20–30 gallons is often enough — too many can lead to aggression.

Avoid Keeping With Fragile Inverts: May bother feather dusters, clams, or tiny shrimp if hungry.

No Guarantee on Bubble Algae: Not every Emerald Crab eats it — some lose interest or never start.
